Jim D.'s Story

LIFE I never forget that I have known what it is like to have been well off financially, and I have known what it is like to be dirt poor. I have learned many important experiences connected to both! Happiness was not associated to being able to buy whatever I wanted but to appreciate what was entrusted to me to take care of as GOD has provided for it all. I have had what I have needed, not wanted in life. For that I have had an abundance to share with others less fortunate. I have never served in any military branch due to the changing of the draft from being drafted to being chosen by a lottery, to the volunteer enlisting. My draft papers were held up for 8 years in the post office and was told that with 3 children I didn't need to apply. I probably missed a lot of guidance and discipline by not having served. It was surly a different era back then. After graduation, I got married. Lived in North Dallas for 2 years and moved to Casa View for about a year and a half. We then bought a house in Mesquite in 1965 and had a family of three girls. We divorced after 16 years of marriage. 5 years later I remarried for a second time for 6 months and realized that times had changed and went back to the sin...Expand for more
gle dad raising 3 girls. I remained single until they were out of school. In 1981, I met a very smart, attractive and ambitious young lady, Denise, really by accident at a gospel music concert. We married in 1983 and remain happily married and can only remember two or three arguments in our 28 years of marriage. She is 17 years younger than I am. It surprises me that she still has me around. We love to travel, share our time together and we each know how to be just as happy alone at times when the other needs their space. Currently, we have finally been able to turn around and look back to see our lives as a real positive and how quickly time passes when you really have fun . . . together! My children have grown and now I have grandchildren and great grandchildren. What a life. I don't know what I would have done if it hadn't been so great for so long. I owe it all to the many prayers of my parents, the support of my family, the many friends and acquaintances, and most of all the love and inspiration that my wife and I share together. Without Denise as my partner, I could not have survived the last twenty-eight years. My abbreviated life story, Jim D. Miller Adamson 1961 "The upside-down year"
